A special board meeting of Rotary Del Sol was called by the president right after the regular Thrusday meeting on April 5th 2012. The president made board members aware there was an issue concerning the distribution of funds from the Governor’s Ball that needed immediate attention.
The board had made a past decision to divide the proceeds with 40% going to the foundation and the balance to be divided between the two children’s organizations.
However the change from a 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 distribution in previous years was not made known to the club as a whole. Consequently members assured both the recipients, ie, The National Dance Institute and the Ty Detmer Youth Football League that they would each receive 1/3 of the proceeds.
In addition entities solicited for donations were not aware of the 40% change.
The board discussed the possibility of making up the 40% from other funds to be in compliance with their own decision. However a motion was made and passed that the children’s organizations would receive the 1/3 promised.
The possibility of making up the 40% from other funds was tabled at this time. It was decided that the 40% decision should be presented to the whole club for their input in considering the distribution from the Governor’s Ball in the future.
