In 2007-2008, several Albuquerque Rotary Clubs including Del Sol and Del Sol's sister club, Juarez Chamisal, solicited funds for a grant to provide check ups and exams for visually impaired chidren of marginalized school, as well as glasses and medical care and equipment as required. The maintenance of the equipment acquired with the grant funds is performed with local materials and technicians.
The project resulted in 2,200 exams to date in various low-income schools in the initial grant period. Rotary members personally observed activities during the imprlementation of this project.
