This week in Rotary
This past week was a very busy one for Del Sol Rotarians.

On Tuesday at 5:30Pm the Satellite Group met at their new date(Tuesday) at Nexus Brewery and on ZOOM.  Willie Edwards, a former member was inducted as a new member of the Satellite Group and  he was also the speaker telling about his Rotary journey.  Welcome again Willie.  We are very excited to have you as an active member again!

On Tuesday morning at 7:00am the RDS Board held its September meeting.  At the meeting the Board decided to increase the Meal costs to $14.00.  The reason for this is that the prior meal cost of $10 was set years ago when we were at a different venue and meal costs have increased. Otherwise meals dues are still being handled the same way.  If you are a Morning Meeting Member and have decided to pay for all meals whether you have actually attended a particular meeting or eaten on a particular day you will be billed for the quarter based on the number of meetings x $14.
If you have elected to be billed just for the meals you consume then that will be those number of meals X $14.00.  If you are a Satellite Member you will only be billed for meals when you attend a morning meeting and eat breakfast.

On Thursday, September 30 at 7:00AM the Morning Meeting featured Jacob Lowery, head of the Turquoise Museum in Albuquerque. The Museum, which was founded in 1993 by Jacob's family is located at 400 2nd Street SW in Albuquerque.  It is in a "castle" and is a fascinating place. Jacob told us a lot about the history of Turquoise and the composition of gemstone quality Turquoise.  China is the largest producer in the World but here in the States, Nevada has the most money with 6.

The Museum has 14 Galleries.  Jacob also showed us examples of various grades of Turquoise, from almost valueless to very expensive.  The presentation was another of Admin chair Dave Simon's very interesting presentations.

Del Sol Rotarians enjoying an Isotopes baseball game at Isotopes park on September 25, 2021.

Last evening, due to the efforts of Dean Constantine, Del Sol Rotarians enjoyed a group outing at Isotopes Park.  It was a beautiful evening  of fun and socializing.  The Isotopes won a close game and afterwards there was a fireworks display.  All who attended agreed that we should do his again next year maybe more than once as part of the social aspect of Rotary.

This Thursday September 30 at 7:00AM at Jimmy's Cafe and via ZOOM there will be a Morning meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians.  Speaker is unknown at this time but when we know that we will send a followup to the Bulletin and Davis Riordan, Club Secretary will also send out a notice.

Just a reminder that we may need a couple of more people for the balloon Fiesta shifts in the Merchandise Tent. If you are interested pease contact Dave Simon or Chris Van Dyck.
