This week in Rotary
On July 22 at the Morning Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians our member Joe Corazzi was one of the speakers.  He updated the members on the replay network set up by Evergreen Funding to  market a condensed version of this  years successful Telethon to attempt to raise an additional $25,000 in addition to the $100,000 plus raised during the Telethon.  The event has been condensed to focus on the music and the charities.  It is hoped that other groups can use this program in their fundraising efforts and in addition raise more money for the Rotary clubs that sponsored the Telethon which includes Del Sol.

Congrats again to Joe for a fabulous effort on the Telethon and this new marketing approach.

Del Sol Foundation Member Dean Constantine updating the Club Members on the RDS Foundation at the July 22, 2021 Meeting.

Dean Constantine from the RDS Foundation spoke at the July 22 Meeting and updated members on the work of the Foundation.  He reminded us that the Foundation was founded in 1997 and achieved 501(C)3 status in 1998.  Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible.

Present balance in the Permanent Fund of the Foundation is $1,156,287 which is professionally managed.  Dean told us about the new joint resolution between the Club Board and the Foundation Board that sets a spending policy now that the 2020 Goal of $1Million has been achieved.  He explained that there will be an equilibrium spending rate of 5%of the last 5 year end of year assets.  The floor, which we will not go below, is $1million.  For the current year we can spend on Charities we support over $41000 out of Foundation Funds.

We need to reactivate the screening committee to evaluate charities we may support.

Tomorrow at 5:30PM the Satellite Group has its meeting  at Nexus Brewery and via ZOOM for all Rotarians and guests.  Past Del Sol Rotarian and Past President Michael Barrio, Executive Director, Santa Fe Housing Action Coalition will be our guest presenter, and his topic will be "The Housing Crisis in NM: Who, What, How & Why it Matters".  This is a very timely program which should be of interest to all Del Sol Rotarians.

On Thursday July 29 at Jimmy's Cafe and via ZOOM the Morning Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians will feature Paul Smith, Executive Director of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta as speaker. Since the Fiesta is only two months away, this is an opportunity for all Del Sol Rotarians to learn about all the details for this years Fiesta.

On Saturday, July 31 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM Kent and Melanie Cravens will be hosting Freeloaders at their home.  Attendance has been enabled on the Events Calendar on the website.  Please sign up and let Kent and Melanie know what dish you are bringing to pass.  They are providing the main  course.  A reminder, if you wish to have an "Adult Beverage" please bring it with you.

Again a reminder that we are not doing a Ramp Build project this month.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
