Thursday's Regular Meeting on February 14, 2019 featured New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired's Beth Lyle speaking on "Love Is Blind". She told about the problems blind people have even when trained for high tech jobs. As many as 80% of them are unable to obtain employment. It was fascinating to learn how blind people can be trained for high tech computer jobs using braille techniques. Beth also explained about the problems the visually impaired have with daily life skills, things sighted people take for granted.
Spouses and significant others were invited to the meeting. 13 of them came and each received a rose for the day. Jacqueline Hockey provided red and white table cloths and decorations for Valentines day. Each Rotarian with a guest introduced their special person for the day and told the members what they meant to them.
Today at 5:15 at Nexus Brewery the Satellite Meeting will feature a presentation in honor of Black History Month. All Members are invited.
Tomorrow at 7:00 AM the RDS Board meets at 7:00AM at Jimmy's cafe. This is an opportunity for Red Badge members to satisfy a Blue Badge requirement if you have not done so. All members are welcome.
