This Week in Rotary

Club Meetings

Our August 11th Morning Meeting speaker was Adeline Herrera, President of the Honor Flight of Northern New Mexico.  Its mission statement is to celebrate America's Veterans by inviting them to share in a day of honor at our nation's memorials.  Thank you, Adeline, for what you and your organization are doing to help those who have helped us so much and, at time, have paid the ultimate sacrifice.

This Tuesday, we'll be having a Twilight meeting at Nexus Brewery and on Zoom.  Vocational Service Coordinator and Rotary Wrangler, Bruce Bortner, will work with us to determine vocational service opportunities (including Retro meetings, which we had been doing for years before COVID) for this Rotary year.  Come join us on Tuesday evening for fun, fellowship, and some important decision-making!

This Thursday, we'll have our weekly morning meeting.  Details, including the zoom login if you'll be joining remotely, will be provided in the next few days.

We've had some great speakers and we have some more great speakers and programs coming up.  If you have any suggestions for upcoming speakers and/or programs, please provide the information through the link below.

Club Happenings

1. On September 8th, we'll be having a special Club Assembly focused on The Rotary Foundation and the Del Sol Foundation.  We are coordinating with our first grant recipients for checks to be presented while honoring past Club President and one of the key members who drove us to achieve $1,000,000 in our permanent fund, Don Chalmers!  We'll also have presentations on our Paul Harris Fellow program as well as updates on our District and Global grant efforts.

2.  We had a wonderful time at our Freeloaders this past Friday night at Linda Busick's house, including having an opportunity to catch up with our 2007 Rotary Youth Exchange student from Belgium, Charles Germain!  More social activities are coming up so stay tuned!

3.  Reminder:  New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase.  If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it.  The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.

4.  Rotary Del Sol is Social!

If you have any ideas or suggestions for our social media, please let Public Image Chair Lisa Chavez or President Jeff know.  And please like, follow, share, etc. our social media.  It will help spread the good word!

5.  If you have any Rotary-related news or happenings, please provide them to Jeff so he can include them in upcoming bulletins.

Rotary Happenings

August is Membership and New Club Development Month.  We're always looking for outstanding people to join our merry band, so be on the lookout!

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum has established a District-wide Blood Drive Challenge from now through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  Eric Collings will be speaking at our Twilight Meeting about this challenge and about the District's Public Image Strategy.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.
