Club Meetings

Our August 5th Morning Meeting speaker was Phaedra Hudman, Events and Fundraising Chair with the IncredAble Adaptive MMA, a non-profit with a mission to empower and provide youth and teens that face a variety of environmental, physical and cognitive challenges with the skills and benefits of Mixed Martial Arts.

This Thursday, we'll have our weekly morning meeting.  Details, including the zoom login if you'll be joining remotely, will be provided in the next few days.

Thank you to those who provided us with potential speakers for upcoming meetings!  We're always looking for interesting speakers and programs, so please complete the speaker form below if you have suggestions we should consider for upcoming programs:  https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfKbllpAiHsoYggme6XazNstvg5Z0TKSa9e7uhf9fDzglp-Yw/viewform?usp=sf_link

Birthdays!

If you haven't done so, please log in to our Club website and make sure that your birthday is listed so we can celebrate your birthday with you.  If you are having problems logging into the website, please let President Jeff know.

Club Happenings

1. We are proud to announce the first recipients from our Del Sol Foundation Grants!

  • Explora Science and Children's Museum
  • NDI New Mexico
  • New Mexico School for the Blind Foundation
  • El Ranchito de Los Ninos
  • Vortex Theater Literacy Program

We are scheduling a check presentation meeting for all five recipients in the near future; and we will have each recipient present to the Club later this year to let us know how our grants have been helping these charities serve their constituents. A HUGE thank you to the Del Sol Foundation Board for vetting through the various nominations and, with input from the Club Board, determining the first set of recipients.

2.  Next ramp build is this Saturday, August 13th.  Registration is up and running through the Upcoming Events link.  As Phil, Greg, and Brent so perfectly stated, please consider volunteering to help this homeowner safely access their home, something we all tend to take for granted and they may not.  We Are Rotary!  Let's make a difference!  And it's a great opportunity to bring potential members and see what Rotary service is all about.

3.  Next Freeloaders at Linda Busick's home and hosted by Linda, Dean Constantine, and Ed and Joyce Robertson.  More information is in the Upcoming Events link.  Another great opportunity to bring potential members!

4.  Reminder:  New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase.  If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it.  The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.

5.  Rotary Del Sol is Social!

If you have any ideas or suggestions for our social media, please let Public Image Chair Lisa Chavez or President Jeff know.  And please like, follow, share, etc. our social media.  It will help spread the good word!

6.  If you have any Rotary-related news or happenings, please provide them to Jeff so he can include them in upcoming bulletins.

Rotary Happenings

August is Membership and New Club Development Month.  We're always looking for outstanding people to join our merry band, so be on the lookout!

District Happenings

1.  The Bi-District Conference will be August 26th and 27th in El Paso at the Plaza Hotel.  Registration is open on the District website (Home Page | District 5520 (rotary5520.org).  Several of us including Christine Glidden and I will be there.  If you haven't been to a Bi-District Conference, it's a very unique and special event with opportunities to partner with our friends across the border in District 4110.

2.  District Governor John Drusedum has established a District-wide Blood Drive Challenge from now through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  Eric Collings will be speaking at our Twilight Meeting about this challenge and about the District's Public Image Strategy.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.
