REMINDER-THERE WIL BE NO MORNING MEETING THIS THURSDAY APRIL 7, 2022 DUE TO THE DISTRICT 5520 ALL CLUB LUNCHEON SCHEDULED FOR APRIL 8 AT NOON AT ISLETA RESORT AND CASINO.
On March 31, 2022 at 7:00am at Jimmy's Cafe, Twana Raupp, from Loving Thunder Therapeutic Riding was the guest speaker. Loving Thunder provides horseback riding as a form of therapy to special needs children and some handicapped adults. It was founded in 2008 due to Twana's own daughter being a special needs chid.
Pre-Covid they had 65 riders in the program. Now they have 25. They also take the horses to the Juvenile Detention Center where they find that young people who have never bonded with anyone are able to bond with the horses.
Children who have been badly effected by the isolation of Covid really enjoy the horses.
In the summer they do a foster care program for several weeks. Twana said it is great to see little kids leading around 1000 pound horses.
On May 7, 2022, Loving Thunder will have the Grand Opening of their new facility in Corrales at 1 Calle Caballo(aka 101 Larrabee Farms Road).
On this Tuesday at 5:30 at Nexus Brewery and on ZOOM at the Satellite Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians they will be reviewing the Club Strategic Plan to take effect July 1st. We'll also be reviewing the plan at the April 28 morning meeting if you don't attend Satellite meetings.
On this Friday April 8 at noon at Isleta Resort and Casino there will be the All Club Luncheon as part of the District 5520 Conference. Del Sol has paid for 20 attendees in addition to those members attending the whole conference. So far 15 members have signed up so if you would still like to attend please click on the All Club Luncheon in the Events Calendar on the home page of the website and sign up.
Remember, the New Mexico Rotary Charity Ball is around the corner so get your Auction items in at one of the meetings or contact Nicosha Schedlbauer, Auction Chair.
