On August 15, at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Dr. Mark Kropp, a new RDS Member and physician was the guest speaker. He told RDS members about the Rotarian Clinic in the Amazon in Brazil. Mark works as a physician at the Clinic alternating with his other career as a consultant here in Albuquerque. We are very excited to have Mark as one of our newer members.
On August 8, 2019 the Charity Selection Committee chaired by Past President Dacia Card met to vet the various charities sponsored by Del Sol Members as possible beneficiaries of the 2020 Governors Ball for New Mexico Children. This will be the first Ball as a Joint Venture with the Rotary Club of Albuquerque. After a thorough review of the various applications the Committee narrowed down the applications to six. Each of the sponsors of these six charirties will make a presentation at the August 29, 2019 Regular Club Meeting. After the presentations a preliminary vote of the members will take place to narrow the number to three finalists. Then at the September 5 Regular Club Meeting the three finalists will make presentations to the members after which there will be a vote of the members to select the Charity for the 2020 Ball. None of the members of the Charity Selection Committee are allowed to sponsor a charity.
Saturday August 17 was a Freeloader event at the home of Tony and Julie Pino. A great time was had by all Rotarians and guests who attended.
Tomorrow, August 19, 2019, The Satellite Group will meet at 5:15PM at Nexus Brewery. Primary focus of the meeting will be a meeting of the Clubs Public Image Committee.
The Regular Thursday morning meeting on August 22, 2019 will feature a visit from District Governor Gary King who is a member of the Moriarty Rotary Club. All members are strongly urged to attend the DG Annual Visit. Immediately after Governor King's visit to the Club he will attend the August Board Meeting which will be held at Meals on Wheels Cafe at 8:00AM. Red Badge members are urged to stay after the Regular meeting to attend the Board meeting to satisfy one of their Blue Badge Requirements.

Membership Chair Barrie Segall reminds all Del Sol Rotarians of the contest June, July and August to see who can bring the most guests. Guests are potential members and will help us meet next years Membership Goal. Prizes will be awarded.
