HAPPY HALLOWEEN DEL SOL ROTARIANS!!!

On October 24, 2019 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, PDG Doreen Kelsey and Admin Chair Nic Baker presented a program on Foundation giving both for the RI Foundation and the RDS Foundation.  Doreen congratulated the Club on having 9 Pal Harris Fellows. She said we have a high percentage of members who participate in Every Rotarian Every Year Giving and also that we are doing well on Rotary Direct.  Doreen instructed members who were not participants in  Rotary Direct on how to do it.

Nic discussed the various strategies for Charitable Giving including, 1. Cash, 2. Charitable Trusts, 3.  Required Minimum Distributions at age 70 1/2 from Tax Deferred plans such as IRA, 401-K, SEP and others, 4. Annuites and 5. Life Insurance.

PDG Doreen Kelsey makes a point about RI Foundation Giving at last Thursday's Regular meeting.

Both Doren and Nic emphasized that RI Foundation has very little overhead so almost 100% of giving goes to charitable projects.  Doreen said 92% of giving comes back to the local Clubs by way of Grants for service projects that the Clubs are Doing.

On Saturday October 26, 2019, Del Sol Rotarians participated in the Jamie Tinnen Memorial Clay Shoot at Tinnen Hunt Club.  Rotarians had teams that participated in the shoot as well as members who helped prepare and serve lunch. Beneficiaries of this fund raiser were the St. Pius High School and the Rotary Del Sol Foundation.

Tony Pino reported on sponsorships for the 2020 Governors Ball.  He said that Rotary of Albuquerque has already obtained $70000 in sponsorships.  RDS members can help by working with Bobby Wallace, Sponsorship Co-Chair,  to obtain sponsorships.  The list of sponsorship opportunities available is found on nmgovernorsball.org.

Tomorrow at 5:15 at Nexus Brewery, The Satellite Group will feature  Bill Ferrara,  Assistant Womens's Basketball Coach for the Lady Lobo Basketball Team.  All Rotarians are welcome for an interesting presentation.  Why not come out and join the Satellite Group for fellowship and fun.

VP John Heck reminds all Del Sol Rotarians of the Ride to End Polio in Tucson, Arizona on November 23.  Every dollar donated is matched 2:1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. John Heck and former Del Sol Rotarian James Morrison are participating in the Ride.  Here is a link for information and giving: http://bit.ly/RTEP-19.
