At last Thursday's Regular Club Meting at Meals on Wheels the sponsors of the six charities being considered for the 2020 Governors Ball made brief presentations in support of their nominee.  The six charities and their sponsors were:
 
1. New Mexico School for the Blind and Visually Impaired-Brian Fisher.
2. Greater Southwest Council, Boy Scouts-Bobby Wallace
3. Abrazos Falily Services-Dick Wilkinson
4. New Mexico Kids Matter(CASA) Barrie Segall
5. Explora-Cradle to Grave STEAM-Bruce Bortner on behalf of Dave Seely
6, Albuquerque Firefighters Random Acts of Kindness-Dave Simon for Greg Hallstrom.
 
After the presentations the Members voted and the votes were tabulated by Past President Dacia Card, Club Secretary Herman Haase and Treasurer John Gordon.   The three Charities selected for the next round of presentations on September 5, 2019 were:(In Alohabetical Order0:
 
Greater Southwest Council Boy Scouts of America
New Mexico Kids Matter (CASA)
New Mexico  School for the Blind and Visually Impaired.
 
At the September 5, Regular Meeting at Meals on Wheels cafe, representatives of the three semifinalists will make presentations in support of their charities.  Then members will vote to select the one charity sponsored by Rotary Club of Albuquerque Del Sol for the 2020 Governors Ball for New Mexico Children.  For this year's Ball, which is a Joint Venture with the Rotary Club of Albuquerque each club will only have one charity sponsored as well as their own foundation.
 
SATELLITE MEMBERS OR MEMBERS WHO CANNOT ATTEND THURSDAYS MEETING MAY VOTE ABSENTEE BY EMAIL WITH THEIR CHOICE  TO ssecretaryrds@gmail.com.  ABSENTEE BALLOTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 6:00PM ON WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 4 IN ORDER TO BE TABULATED.
 
Membership Chair Barrie Segall  will announce the winner of the Bring a Guest, Summer of Growth Membership Contest  at Thursdays Meeting.
 
Tomorrow is Labor Day.  We wish all Del Sol Rotarians and their families a Happy Day of Fun in the Sun.  Lets all remember that on Labor Day we celebrate the achievements of the American Labor Movement and its leaders who have done so much to advance the health, welfare and lives of American Workers.
 
Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
