On October 17 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Ada Kiehne, A Transformational Life Coach, spoke on the art of Connecting With people. She said we often don't see people who need help because we are too busy. She told some personal experiences of people she personally knew who needed help but no-one saw it until it was almost too late.
Ada said Communication and Connecting are two separate things. We need to connect with people to relate to them in a positive way. She emphasized eye contact and body language. "We need to listen to understand, not to reply."
Ada noted how difficult this can be in family relationships especially between husbands and wives.
Doreen Kelsey thanked all those who helped in the Merchandise Tent at Balloon Fiesta and said we would be getting a check for $2000 for our service.
Also at last Thursdays meeting Tony Pino, Governors Ball Co-chair told how the Rotary Club of Albuquerque is "On Fire " with getting sponsorships and that Del Sol members need to work on sponsorships at this time.
Ron Hensley discussed the Fun Clay Shoot at Tinnon Farms on October 26 and said there is still a need for teams and food servers.
On October 19, Bruce and Joyce Bortner hosted Freeloaders at their home. 24 Rotarians and guests enjoyed Sloppy Joes with a New Mexican flavor.
Tomorrow, October 21 at 5:15 at Nexus Brewery the Satellite Group will have a planning meeting. Focus will be on reviewing the plan and membership. All Del Sol Rotarians are invited. Jeff Weinrach, Chair of Satellite has sent an agenda to all members. Come on out and have a cold brew with some great Rotarians.
The Regular Thursday meeting on October 24 at Meals on Wheels will feature Doreen Kelsey and Nic Baker discussing Foundation Giving. A laptop will be available for Rotarians to sign up for Rotary Direct at the meeting.
