Our July 19th Twilight Meeting speaker was our Youth Service Point of Contact Vicki Turpen, who spoke about public education in Albuquerque. Our July 21st Morning Meeting speaker was Kent Cravens, who spoke about the Albuquerque Real Estate Market. Kent also led us in a Rotary 4-way test sing-along! We are thankful to both Vicki and Kent for their presentations this past week and for being such great Rotarians!
This Thursday, we'll have our weekly morning meeting. Details, including the zoom login if you'll be joining remotely, will be provided in the next few days.
We're always looking for interesting speakers and programs, so please complete the speaker form below if you have suggestions we should consider for upcoming programs: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfKbllpAiHsoYggme6XazNstvg5Z0TKSa9e7uhf9fDzglp-Yw/viewform?usp=sf_link
Birthdays!
If you haven't done so, please log in to our Club website and make sure that your birthday is listed so we can celebrate your birthday with you. If you are having problems logging into the website, please let President Jeff know.
Club Happenings:
1. Ramp Build coming up! Brent Melville will send out a sign-up link. Greg Hallstrom is looking for "camps" to house ramps volunteers. Contact Greg (gregh@unm.edu) for more info. We also will likely have our District Grant renewed, so we'll be able to build more ramps for people in need!
2. Next Freeloaders at Linda Busick's home. More info coming shortly.
3. Greg did an informal poll about working the balloon fiesta this year, and the membership was interested.
4. Mitch did a banner exchange with the Southwest Mesquite Club while he was on travel.
5. New Venmo is up and running for our Club Account (to pay dues, happy bux, lucky bux) - "@RotaryDelSol30", and it will show up as Herman Haase. If you're set up using the old Club Account in Venmo, please change it. The Club Foundation account ("@R-otaryDelSolFoundation") is staying the same.
6. Rotary Del Sol is on social media, now including Instagram. We've posted more pictures from the Bastille Day Freeloaders on our Facebook page and on Instagram, and we will also start posting again on our Twitter page. Social media is a great tool (if used properly) to let the community know what our Club is doing as well as to recruit potential members. If you have any ideas or suggestions for our social media, please let Public Image Chair Lisa Chavez or President Jeff know. And please like, follow, share, etc. our social media. It will help spread the good word!
7. If you have any Rotary-related news or happenings, please provide them to Jeff so he can include them in upcoming bulletins.
Rotary Happenings
Our commitment to fully eradicating polio took a very unfortunate turn this past week.
District Happenings
1. The Bi-District Conference will be August 26th and 27th in El Paso at the Plaza Hotel. Registration is open on the District website (
Home Page | District 5520 (rotary5520.org). Several of us including Christine Glidden and I will be there. If you haven't been to a Bi-District Conference, it's a very unique and special event with opportunities to partner with our friends across the border in District 4110.
2. District Governor John Drusedum has established a District-wide Blood Drive Challenge from now through January 31st. The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life"). Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.
Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any questions about these surveys or about any aspect of our Club.
