Club Happenings

1.  Governors Charity Ball Charity Nomination Presentations started last week and will continue this week!  We heard from Kit Turpen and Tony Pino last week (here is a link to the recorded version so you can watch it and participate in the voting:

We also were blessed to have join us the Charter President of the Rotary Club of Kigali Anyanwu, Kelechi Anyanwu.  And our Rotarian of the Day was our illustrious Club Vice-President, Aprilyn Chavez Geissler!  If you are interested in being Rotarian of the Day for an upcoming Club meeting, please contact Ron Hensley or Jeff Weinrach.

2.  Governors Charity Ball Charity Nominations:  The deadline for submitting Governors Charity Ball Charity Nominations is this evening (Sunday) so that we can quickly review the applications to make sure the charity is eligible and to arrange it so you can present at this Thursday's Club Meeting.  Applications should be sent by e-mail to President Jeff (jweinrach5520@nmia.com), and he will forward them to both Herman Haase and Dave Seely for review.  If you can't get your application submitted this evening, please contact Jeff today (1-505-400-1403) so we can make alternative arrangements.

3.  NDI Videos:  We recently had Myers Godwin from NDi join us and discuss what they were planning to do with their Don Chalmers Memorial Grant funding.  Here is NDI's website with some recent videos that Myers wanted to share with us:

4.  Governors Charity Ball Committees:
We are starting to determine membership for our various Governors Charity Ball Committees, and we hope to have them completed in a few weeks.  Rotary Club of Albuquerque is doing the same.  Below are the proposed Committees and their purpose.

VIP Committee – Coordinates invitations and serves as liaisons to Ball VIP's (including but not limited to Governors)

Charity Committee – Coordinates selection of charities and serves as liaisons with charities’ points of contact throughout the pre-event, event, and post-event timeframes

Auction Committee – Coordinates all auction-related activities including selection, collection, and pricing of auction items – includes coordination with and participation of First Sergeants

Event Logistics Committee – Coordinates all related to the event logistics including but not limited to hotel and ballroom accommodations, food and food service, registration and seating, band coordination, decorations, and Ball agenda

Marketing/Advertising/Printing Committee – Coordinates public relations and marketing activities related to the Ball and the selected charities, as well as all printing including both for advertising and for the event program; sends out a “Save-the-Date” to target audiences (VIPs, previous donors, and previous attendees, for example)

Revenue Committee – Coordinates all activities other than the auction that generates revenue from the Ball, specifically table sales and sponsorships

Recognition Committee – Identifies all charities previously helped by the Governors Ball and establishes and sets up a "Charity Hall", which posts results of how the Governors Charity Ball has supported them in the past and what they are doing today thanks to the support.  Responsible for providing recognition to any other group that provides substantive support to the Ball and its charities.

Rotary Happenings

November is Rotary Foundation Month.  Our Club has been and continues to be one of the most supportive Clubs of the Rotary Foundation in our District, not just in our financial support but also in our use of the Foundation to support our District and Global Grants.

District Happenings

1.  District Governor John Drusedum's blood drive challenge is still in effect through January 31st.  The goal is a total of 1000 units collected ("1000 Pints of Life").  Last year, the District gave out four Paul Harris Awards, and will do it again this year for the clubs with most pints donated.  More information on the Blood Drive Challenge can be found here:  documents/en-us/d1f076f4-1ea7-421c-abaa-df7d0e043a7d/1).

2.  In honor of November being Rotary Foundation month, our Rotary District will be putting on a Rotary Foundation Training this Saturday, November 5th.  This will be a great way to learn more about the Rotary Foundation including both global and district grants for which our Club is heavily involved in both.  The training is by zoom, and here is the registration page (you will need to login to register...contact President Jeff if you can't login):

Central Area Happenings

Our Club is part of the District's Central Area, which includes all the Clubs in Albuquerque and Rio Rancho as well as Clubs in the East Mountains and as far west as Grants and Gallup.  We have set up a website which contains information about what is going on in the Central Area including events that we can support.  Here's the link so you can see what our neighboring Clubs are doing in case you are interested in helping them:

Please feel free to call, text, or e-mail President Jeff (1-505-400-1403, jweinrach5520@nmia.com) if you have any feedback or suggestions for future Bulletin content or if you have any feedback or questions about any aspect of our Club.

Let's all have a great week in Rotary putting Service above Self!
