Club Happenings
1. Club Meeting Updates
This past Thursday, our very special guest presenter was Julius Ntende with the Rotary Club of Namugango, Uganda! And we also inducted our newest member, Wayne Overall, into the Club!
This Tuesday at our Twilight Meeting, we'll be inducting Bill Hawley into the Club, and Bill will give us a vocational presentation on his background, interests, etc. This Thursday, Mark Abramson will discuss New Mexico Gun Control Efforts Ver. 23: Assault and Pepper.
2. Don Chalmers Memorial Grant applications due by February 29th!
We have a little over one week left for Don Chalmers Memorial Grant applications! The information about the grant applications is available on our Club website home page. Please consider whom you would nominate (including previous Governors Charity Ball nominated charities) and submit an application. We have a good amount of money from the Foundation to give to charities this year.
3. "Packathon" Service Project for Haiti
At last past week's Central Area Presidents' Council meeting, we were informed about this upcoming event, which is for all of our local Rotary Clubs to participate. If you are interested in registering or donating, please open the QR code above or go to https://www.classy.org/event/albuquerque-feed-milot-haiti-packathon/e460114
Please let Club Service Projects Chair, Brent Melville, know if you plan to attend so we can track it as part of our service hours and # of service projects per year goal.
4. Update on Project SMART:
Several weeks ago, Larry Kenemore spoke to our Club about Project SMART in conjunction with the Rotary Action Group for Addiction Prevention. President Jeff joined the Action Group this past week. If the Club is interested in participating in Project SMART, here are the next steps that I received from Larry:
1. Form a committee of at least 5 people (Jeff is already onboard so we need 4 more). We can have people that are not Rotarians, but a majority must be Rotarians.
2. Take a picture with the committee and forward it to us.
3. We will then send a grant agreement for the club president and incoming president to sign.
4. After this, we will begin meetings with your committee by zoom.
So, if you're interested in participating, please contact President Jeff, and we'll see if we can get this going!
5. Our next "Retro" Meeting is being rescheduled likely to March 30th
Our next "Retro" meeting, which was originally scheduled for March 2nd, will likely be rescheduled to later in March, likely March 30th. Shriley Anderson and Steve Reynolds have agreed to host. More information on the Retro meeting will be coming in the next few weeks.

On Wednesday, April 26th, the Albuquerque Rotary Clubs will be hosting a Rotary Foundation banquet with special guest presenter, Past Rotary International Director and current Rotary Foundation Trustee Greg Podd. We will be recognizing those who have supported the Rotary Foundation, educate those new to Rotary about the work of the Foundation, and celebrate the accomplishments made possible by the Foundation. Tickets are $40 per person. For more information, please contact Rotary 5520 District Secretary Donette Wagner (505-269-4634, secretary5520@gmail.com).
