On January 16 the Regular Thursday Meeting was at a new trial location, Jimmy's Cafe on Jefferson.  Satellite member Steve Reynolds, owner of Jimmy's, did a great job setting up the room for us and allowing us to order off the menu. At the next Board meeting on January 21, the Board will discuss a possible change from our present meeting location at Meals on Wheels.  The entire Club will have an opportunity to vote on this change at the January 23, 2020 Regular Meeting. If we change the effective date will probably be in February.

 

The meeting was a Club Assembly.  Brad Echoff, RDS Foundation President updated the members on the finances and activities of the Foundation. He also discussed various awards that members can earn for  making contributions to the Foundation.

Ron Hensley and Tony Pino, New Mexico Governors Charity Ball Co-Chairs for our Club updated members on the upcoming Governors Ball on April 18, 2020 at Sandia Resort and Casino.  Tony said that we really need to work hard on this Ball and if we do we should meet our 2020 Goal of $1million in the Foundation Permanent Fund.  If we do that, then we can start using the investment income from those  funds for Club Charitable Projects.  Tony and Ron discussed sponsorships and told members to contact Brad Echo about Auction items.  Tony emphasized that we want auction items that we really believe will sell.

Tomorrow there will be a Satellite meeting at Nexus Brewery at 5:15 pm,  It will be a business meeting to discuss Service Projects for the coming year.  All members are welcome to come and make service project suggestions. 

 

Tuesday morning at 7:00AM President Dave Simon will conduct the Rotary Del Sol Board Meeting at Jimmy's Cafe.  Again all members, especially Red Badge members, are welcome to attend and learn about the business of the Club.

 

Thursday's Regular Meeting will be back at Meals on Wheels Cafe.  Speaker will be Kathleen Holmes Cates speaking on Early Intervention for Babies.  This will be an excellent topic for parents and grandparents of young children.  

 

Starting January 30 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Secretary Herman Haase will have a laptop to help members register for Rotary Direct.  Our Goal is to have every member sign up for Rotary Direct by the end of this  Club year.
