This week in Rotary
On July 11, 2019 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Raymond Concho, Jr. ,Tribal Planner for the Acoma Pueblo was the featured speaker.  He was previously Lieutenant Governor for the Pueblo and now heads the Community Development office. He gave a status report on the Pueblo and told RDS members a lot of interesting facts about Pueblo life.  He explained how tribal officers are chosen and emphasized it is not a political process.  All officers are required to do "Traditional Service" for the tribe in addition to  their officer duties.  The may even by required to do ditch digging..

Raymond also emphasized the traditional religious way of life of the Pueblo.  Tribal members observe their traditional religious practices as well as Catholicism.

One project of the Pueblo is to help fund "At Risk Students".  He  also outlined the Pueblo Economic Development plans.  Members asked several good questions of Raymond at the conclusion of his talk.

Five guests attended the Thursday meeting which made membership chair Barrie Segall very Happy.  It was President Dave Simon's First meeting as President.  Since he did not have a Sergeant at Arms present, Dave assumed the role and was rewarded by several unnamed members carrying Dave  bodily out of the meeting.  It caused quite a few laughs among members.

Last evening July 13, Jacqueline Hockey hosted Rotarians and guests at her home for Freeloaders. Theme of the evening was  Bastile Day.

Tomorrow at 5:15 PM at Nexus Brewery Satellite Co-Chairs Jeff Wienrach and Bent Melville will preside over a Satellite Planning Meeting.  All members are invited.

Tuesday, July 16 is the RDS Board Meeting at 7:00AM at Jimmy's Cafe.  It will be President Dave Simon's first meeting as President and all members especially Red Badge members are invited to attend.

The Regular Thursday meeting on July 18 at Meals on Wheels Cafe will feature Tony Pino leading a Club Assembly on exciting changes to the Governors Charity Ball for New Mexico Children.  This will be a very important meeting and all members are urged to attend.

Membership Chair Barrie Segall reminds all Del Sol Rotarians of the contest June, July and August to see who can bring the most guests.  Guests are potential members and will help us meet next years Membership Goal. Prizes will be awarded.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
