This past week, we had an end-of-year celebration at our Tuesday Twilight Meeting at Nexus Brewery; and, on Thursday, we conducted a Club Assembly that included Member Recognitions and a discussion of our budget for the next Rotary year (starting July 1st). Our Rotarian of the Year was our Club Membership Chair, Jeff Faulwell, who introduced new membership categories (Young Professionals Membership, Corporate Membership, and Spousal Membership) that will provide new opportunities to recruit and develop more outstanding Rotarians now and for years to come! Congratulations, Jeff!
This week, our program will be about Tree New Mexico, whose mission is to help communities plant and care for trees in urban areas - large and small - throughout the Land of Enchantment.
2. Bike Fund-Raiser Update - Walkers can join us!
This week, we were given the green light to have walkers join bicycle riders for our fund-raiser! If you have not yet done so, please consider registering through the website (https://women2be.org), and also spread the word including through the brochures and also the video below.
3. Gratitude to Vicki Turpen from Byron Zahm and Tutor Doctor!
Over a period of 6 months, Vicki Turpen has committed over 35 hours of dedicated tutoring support to a client of Tutor Doctor (Byron's non-profit) from the NM Commission for the Blind.
Vicki has capably supported our client with her GED/HISET aspirations. One of the challenges has been this clients' specific learning accommodations, which Vicki has carefully and successfully navigated. In the process Vicki has built a valued and trusted friendship.
To date, our client has successfully passed her Reading, Math and Writing HISET test segments. In the coming months we will be supporting her with the successful completion of her Social Studies, Science sections with accommodations.
Thank you, Vicki, for being such a faithful servant. From myself and Tutor Doctor, thank you for your generous, dedicated and compassionate support. And Thank You, fellow Del Sol Rotarians, for the vision you share in supporting our community.
4. Another Successful Ramp Build!
Thanks to all who participated in the Ramp Build yesterday!!!
5. RYLA Camper for this year!
Thanks in large part to the dedicated effort of Club New Generations/Youth Programs Committee Chair, Jennifer Huffaker, we'll be sending Juliana Wardroup-Sanchez to RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) camp this year! We can't wait to hear from Juliana about what her experience was like! Due to the pandemic, RYLA camp was not being held the last few years, and it's great to see that it's back up and running. It's one of the most important Rotary programs that we can support each year!
