This week in Rotary
MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAPPY HANUKKAH, HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO ALL DEL SOL ROTARIANS.

As we all look forward to celebrate the Holiday Season each in our own way, let us remember those less fortunate than us and all those we pledge to support with the Rotary Motto Service Above Self.  While this will be the most unusual Holiday Season that most of us have ever experienced, let us all be thankful for all the blessings we enjoy.

On December 14 at the Satellite Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians, MyChelle Andrews, District 23 Director of Toastmasters was the guest speaker.  This was another presentation  in a series of programs about what other service organizations are doing in the Albuquerque area.  Dick Wilkinson, co-Chair of the Satellite Group put together this series of programs.

MyChelle told us about the agreement that Rotary International and Toastmasters has for Toastmasters to provide Communications programs for Rotarians.  She said joining Toastmasters "changed her life because as a person who has a disability, Toastmasters gave her confidence to do public speaking".

Toastmasters has 29 clubs in the Albuquerque Area that meet at various times in various locations.   MyChelle told us how through Toastmasters we could learn how to pitch our service projects to community leaders and other volunteers.

Rotarians Del Sol Members participating in the Club Assembly  on December 17, 2020

The Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians on December 17 at 7:00AM was a Club Assembly called by President Ed Robertson to evaluate where we are on various Club Goals and decide what steps need to be taken going forward to attain these goals.  Club Secretary Davis Riordan shared his screen from Rotary Club Central and went through each of the  goals President Ed and the RDS Board had set for this Rotary year.  We went through each Service project either completed,  pending  or planned.

Davis reported that our Membership Goal is within reach as when we induct our two pending applicants our goal of 60 Active members will have been achieved.

We also discussed some of the goals such as Rotary Fellowships which are not as well known.

Part of the discussion featured Rotary Foundation Chair Ron Hensley and Rotary Del Sol Foundation President Dave Seely  describing the difference between the Rotary Foundation and the  Rotary Del Sol Foundation.

Dave confirmed that we have reached our 2020 Goal of $1Million in the RDS Foundation Permanent Fund.

Dave Seely, RDS Foundation President describing the work and status of the Foundation.

Tony Pino confirmed that the Governors  Charity Ball for New Mexico Children will be a virtual Auction this year due to Covid 19.  He stressed that we should all contact our sponsors to make sure that they still want to contribute to this new format and at what level.

There will be no meetings this week due to the Holidays.  The next Satellite meeting will be at 5:30 PM on December 28 via ZOOM.

Lets all have a Healthy, Safe and Happy Holiday Season.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
