On June 10, 2021 at the at the Morning Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians, Julie Rugg, Director of the Bio Park Society,  was the guest speaker.  She updated us on the various new projects and additions to other projects at the Bio-Park Zoo. The farm at the zoo is being expanded.  They are getting more penguins in the Australia Exhibit.  Julie said they would like to bring seals and sea lions back but it is a very expensive proposition, i.e. $25 Million.  

 

Julie said she was very happy that the Bio-Park lost no employees during the Covid-19 Pandemic because it is a City Owned facility.

 

Julie also explained how various zoos trade animal. 

 

It was a very interesting program.

 

At  the same meeting Lance Ellis discussed the current Ramps project for this last Saturday.  

 

Tony Pino updated on the Governors Ball.

 

President Elect Brad Ekhoff said the Installation of Officers for 2021-2022  will be held on  July 1 at the Morning Meeting.  

 

On June 14 at 7:00am via ZOOM the RDS Board held its Regular June Board Meeting.  President Ed thanked all of the Board members for their service in this very difficult year.

 

On Thursday morning at 7:00AM the Morning Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians will feature Gerard Mc Millan, a Rotarian from Singleton, Australia who will speak  about the work of his Rotary Club and that of District 9620 in Eastern Australia.  This will be a hybrid meeting in person at Jimmy's Cafe and also via ZOOM.  Club Secretary Davis Riordan has sent out a link for the meeting.

 

This coming Saturday night at 6:00PM there will be the first and last Freeloaders of the year at the Robertsons. Please RSVP to Joyce or Ed and tell them what dish to pass you are bringing.
