District Governor Visit
This week, Rotary District 5520 Governor Richard Haas visited our Club and gave a great presentation about Rotary International President's Gordon McInally's theme and goals for the year.
The theme is Create Hope in the World. The multi-colored logo was inspired by a seashell given to Gordon McInally by a Tsunami victim to show that there is beauty in tragedy. The theme colors are all the colors in the world.
President McInally is focusing this year on mental health issues.
Rotary International and our District are growing slowing after Covid. Governor Haas encouraged us to "backfill" the club with some younger members.
He also encouraged us to create hope through community, collaboration and connections. Take the time to "see who is on the other side of the pump" and connect with people in your community.
Bring Your Unwrapped Toys
Elizabeth Montoya is organizing a few Fall Festivals for the Bayer Foundation and Covanant House. She is asking Rotarians to bring unwrapped toys to the club meeting next week to give to the kids who attend the events.
Balloon Fiesta Volunteers Needed
Volunteers needed to help out at the merchandise tent at the Balloon Fiesta for Mass Ascension (Oct 7) or Balloon Glow (Oct 13). Our club gets paid for volunteering and it's a great way to increase our visibility in the community. Sign up on the club website. Contact Dave Simon for more information.
