Club Happenings

1.  Club Meeting Updates

What a wonderful Club meeting this past Thursday! Our guest presenter was David Saavedra, Director of Government Affairs with the New Mexico Association of Realtors, and our Rotarian of the Day was the incomparable Bruce Bortner!  We also had a very important business meeting at our Tuesday Twilight Meeting at Nexus Brewery!

This week, at our Thursday morning meeting, our guest presenter will be Will Martinez, who is the Business Journal Editor.

2.  Freeloaders this Saturday, May 6th at Ron and Cindy Hensley's House!

Yesterday was Freeloaders, Kentucky Derby style, at Ron and Cindy Hensley's House!  Thanks to Ron and Cindy for being such wonderful hosts!

3.  Project SMART "Train the Trainer" for Naloxone Class!

For the first step in our new Project SMART (School Education, Medicine and Drug Disposal, Awareness, Recovery, and Treatment) initiative, our Project SMART team (Jeff, Davis, Dean, Kit, and Dan) is coordinating a "Train the Trainer" Naloxone class for 20 to 25 people (they do not need to be Rotarians). Naloxone is an opioid antagonist meaning that it binds to opioid receptors and can reverse and block the effects of opioids such as heroin, morphine, and oxycodone.  We will be providing this Naloxone Training using the newest and latest Naloxone from Kloxxado that is more effective and works faster than other products.  If you are interested in being one of our trainers for this roll-out, please contact President Jeff at 1-505-400-1403 or jweinrach5520@nmia.com.

6. Rotary Fellowships and Rotary Action Groups

Besides all the great activities we do at the Club level, members have the opportunity to join Rotary Fellowships and Rotary Action Groups.  The Fellowships tend to be more social in nature (Golf, Wine, etc.), while the action groups are aligned with Rotary's Areas of Focus and the work we do through the Rotary Foundation (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Polio Survivors, etc.).  Please consider joining one or more of these groups to add to your Rotary experience:
