Paul Guessing of the Rio Grande Foundation spoke at the April 14 morning meeting and outlined the priorities of the Foundation as it relates to the work of the New Mexico legislature. Among those priorities is the overhaul of the States Gross Receipts Tax system which has long been regarded as a disincentive for New Mexico business.  He also advocated a reform of the New Mexico Emergency laws and stated that the Foundation believes that Education dollars should follow the student. 

 

On Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at 5:30 pm Christine Glidden and her Rotary friends from Nepal will be the featured presenters at the Satellite Meeting at Nexus Brewery and on ZOOM.  This will be a very interesting presentation on Christine's work with the Women2Be project in Nepal which Del Sol is actively supporting. Satellite Chair Jeff Weinrach has sent out a ZOOM link for the Meeting.

 

Also on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:00AM at Jimmy's Cafe and on ZOOM, the RDS Board will have its Regular April Board Meeting.  All members are welcome especially Red Badge Members who need to attend a Board Meeting as part of their Blue Badge requirements.

 

On Thursday, April 21 at 7:00AM the Morning meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians will feature Kelsey Radar, Sustainability Director, City of Albuquerque speaking about the Earth Day Program. Club Secretary Davis Riordan has sent out a ZOOM link for the meeting for those unable to attend Jimmy's Cafe.

 

MOSY IMPORTANT EVENT OF THE WEEK IS THE NEW MEXICO ROTARY CHARITY BALL AT 5:00 PM AT THE ALBUQUERQUE CONVENTION CENTER.  RON HENSLEY HAS SENT OUT LOGISTICAL INFORMATION FOR THE EVENT. ALSO TO CORRECT AN ITEM IN LAST WEEKS BULLETIN, FORMAL ATTIRE IS ALLOWED BUT NOT REQUIRED .  MANY OF THE MEMBERS WILL WEAR BOWLING SHIRTS AND OTHER FIFTIES GARB AS FITS THE THEME OF "LETS ROCK AROUG THE CLOCK.  SO BLUE SUEDE SHOES AND POODLE SKIRTS ARE DEFINITELY IN VOGUE FOR THE BALL. SEE YOU ALL THERE.
