On November 3, 2020 at the 5:30 PM Satellite Meeting Kyle Biederwolf of the Young Professionals of Albuquerque was the guest speaker. This was the first of a series of presentations by other service organizations in the Albuquerque area to tell Del Sol Rotarians about their organizations and network on how Del Sol and other service organizations can work together for our community betterment.
Satellite Co-Chair Dick Wilkinson came up with the idea and presided over the meeting. Kyle told us that the YPA has all sorts of professionals as members. They engage in networking but also do service projects and promote speakers on professional development.
They do a lot of community engagement. Right now their main service project was "to adopt Barrett House, a facility that provides housing for victims of Domestic Violence. YPA provides money, in-kind donations and time doing landscaping, cooking and spending time with the children.
Dick Wilkinson then told Kyle about Rotary Del Sol and a discussion ensued as to how the two organizations can work together.
Healthcare Hero and the Navajo Hope project are ongoing. For Healthcare Heroes contact Chris Van Dyck to help drive. For Navajo Hope contact Christine Glidden.
Upcoming service projects for Del Sol include the Ramp project on
November 12 and November 14. Please sign up to work by clicking on the event in the event calendar.
The Thursday Morning meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians on November 12 at 7:00AM via ZOOM will feature Carol Wight from the New Mexico Restaurant Association speaking on the Impact of Covid-19 on the Hospitality Industry. Club Secretary Davis Riordan has already sent out a link for the meeting.
