On January 4, 2022, the Satellite Group held its meeting at 5:30PM at Nexus Brewery and on ZOOM. Tom Walker, Past District Governor District 5520 was the speaker about the Rotary Foundation.
On Thursday January 6 at 7:00AM the Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians featured Will Gleason an Urban Planner with Dekker Perich Sabatini Architects as the speaker. He gave an interesting presentation about changes in the commercial real estate market in the Albuquerque area. He told us that the new Amazon Center in Albuquerque has a square foot area of 2.5 million square feet making it the largest building in Albuquerque by far. The price per square foot for warehouse space has doubled in recent times.
Will also discussed the new Albuquerque Studios sound stage project. It is "one of the best hopes for job growth" in Albuquerque. There will be 8-10 new sound stages in 1million square space.
Finally he told us that among changes in commercial construction are more interchangeable outdoor spaces and more Collaborative work spaces in offices.
An important event coming up this week for Rotarians especially Red Badge members is the Rotary Del Sol Foundation Board Meeting from 5:00 to 6:00 PM at US Eagle Credit Union, 3939 Osuna, Albuquerque.
On Thursday at 7:00AM at Jimmy's Cafe and on ZOOM the Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians will feature Karen Iverson of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Agency who will speak on Business Policy.
Thursday afternoon at 4:00pm in Tony Pino's office at 609 Broadway Blvd, NE, West Building, Willie Edwards will chair the meeting of the Rotary Charity Ball Sponsorship Committee. Sponsorships are crucial looking towards the April 23, 2022 Charity Ball and Willie and the Committee need all the help they can get recruiting sponsors.
