Happy Thanksgiving Del Sol Rotarians and Families
On November 21 at the Regular Thursday Meeting, Joe Abbin a Reserve Police Office, City of Albuquerque, was the speaker. He discussed his new book about crime in Albuquerque "ABQ Blues". Joe provided interesting statistics about the crime problem in Albuquerque and said for a city of our size we have a serious problem. He discussed Diversion Courts, which he said work well for first Offenders but not so for repeat violent offenders.
Also at the meeting, Dave Ring presented a Paul Harris Fellow Pin to President-Elect Ed Robertson.
Julie Frendle, Long time Del Sol Rotarian, receiving a Gift certificate from Shirley Anderson with the assistance of Scot McLelland and Dave Simon.
RDS members honored long time member Julie Frendle as she and husband Rick prepare to move to their new home in Goodyear, Arizona. Shirley Anderson told members about Julie's long term service to Rotary, especially helping with the Governors Ball. Other Del Sol Rotarians complemented Julie on her Rotary Service. Julie thanked Del Sol Rotarians for their friendship over the years and said she would miss all her friends in Albuquerque. It was a bittersweet moment and several members and Julie shed tears. Julie will be truly missed by all her friends in Rotary Del Sol.
President Dave Simon announced that at the November 19 Board the Board passed a resolution to expand the RDS Board to 13 members by adding the Chair of the Satellite Group. Dave then asked for a vote of the members to place Satellite Chair Jeff Weinrach on the RDS Board. Motion passed by acclamation.
President Dave also informed the members that there would probably be an increase in meal dues in the near future and said the Board was working to come to a decision as to whether to move to a new venue for the Thursday meeting or enter a new agreement on meal costs with Meals on Wheels.
The RDS Holiday party will be at Dave and Ann Simon's Home on December 15 at 5:00p.m. Members can sign up for themselves and their guests by clicking on the event in the event calendar on the Club Runner Home Page.
