HAPPY NEW YEAR DEL SOL ROTARIANS!!!
Thursday's Regular Meeting on December 20, 2018 featured Join Mierzwa from Ingenuity Software Labs speaking on the "Deep Dive Coding Project". John's theme was that New Mexico should be a leader for Intel tech jobs. The Deep Dive Coding project is a Joint Venture with CNM. It is a unique program of Coding Boot Camps where students attend an intense "boot Camp" for 40 hours a week for 10 or 12 weeks learning coding skills.
Successful graduates start earning money right away in intel technology jobs earning on average $46000.00 per year to start. Graduates are very much in demand especially with high tech start up companies. Persons entering the program do not need a college background but do need computer and internet skills.
Thursday, December 27 Regular Meeting featured a discussion led by President Dacia Card on the future of the Governors Ball after the 2020 Ball. A very frank discussion ensued and many interesting points of view were expressed.
There was no Satellite Meeting this week.
The Regular Thursday meeting on JANUARY 3 at Meals on Wheels will feature Sherri Wells, President/Executive Director of the Natural History Foundation and Amy Berman, Development Director of the Foundation. They will update Del Sol Rotarians on the DaVinci Exhibit and tell us about two new exhibits coming in February: Brain...The Inside Story and Drugs: Costs and Consequences.
This week also saw the launch of the updated Rotary Del Sol Club Runner website Homepage. Kudos to Satellite Group Chair and Del Sol Public Relations Chair Meredith Eisenberg for great work on this project. Thank you Meredith.
January will see the 2019 Governors Ball swing into full steam ahead. The Ball's website is nmgovernorsball.org. Please check the Ball website for a lot of great information about the ball.
