This week in Rotary
On October 5 at the Satellite Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians, Michael Wood, Satellite Co-Chair and faculty advisor for the East Mountain High Interact Club presented a program featuring members of the East Mountain High Interact Club. Charlotte Williams, Adam Garcia and Madesyn Garcia, students at East Mountain and officers of the Interact Club attended and presented information to Del Sol about their Club.

There are 18 members of the East Mountain Interact Club.  An interesting feature of the program was  a discussion of East Mountain Interact Club's relationship with the Vista De Hermosa Interact Club in Guatemala.  Vista De Hermosa is different from East Mountain in that most of their Service Projects are individual where each member goes out in their neighborhood to do individual service projects such as feeding an impoverished family.  Then all the students come back to the Club and decide which of these projects the Club may adopt as a Club project.

The East Mountain Interactors then discussed their Club Service projects for the year.  Among those is planting a tree in honor of one of their teachers who has passed away.  They will continue with some of their usual projects such as their Holiday Sock Drive.

District Governor Sunny Kellerman also appeared at the meeting via ZOOM.  She discussed several District 5520 Activities:

1.  October 29-District Wide Art Auction in  which each district club is asked to donate one art object and send a photo of it for the Auction which will be VIRTUAL.

2.  Polio Plus Society-This is new this year and is a Rotary Foundation commitment for members to commit $100 per year to Polio Plus until Polio is eradicated.  Sunny asked that we have 100% participation in this renewed effort to eradicate polio.  She told us of the success in halting transmission of polio in Africa.

3.  End Polio Now-  A RI and District 5520 effort to renew efforts to eliminate Polio.

Speaking of Sunny Kellerman, the District Governor will be attending our Board Meeting tomorrow October 13 at 7:00AM.  A link for this meting has been sent out by Davis Riordan, Club Secretary.  All members are invited to attend.  The meeting will focus on how the District can assist our club.

Then on Thursday, October 15 at 7:00AM Governor Kellerman will be making her annual club meeting where she will attend the Morning Meeting for all Del Sol Rotarians to highlight the work of District 5520. Davis Riordan has sent out a link for this  meeting.

Our Navajo Hope project is proceeding Full Speed ahead. Christine Glidden reports that there have ben two Pueblo deliveries in the last two weeks as well as a Navajo delivery.  Under consideration is a delivery to Navajo Nation members living in Albuquerque.

Chris Van Dyck reports that Health Care Heroes is ongoing and that the Ramp project installed a new Ramp this last Saturday.

Lets have a great turnout for Sunny Kellerman's visits this week.  Also lets all try to sign up for the Polio Plus Society.

Lets all have a Great week in Rotary putting Service above Self.
