This week in Rotary
On February 4 at the Morning Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians, Terry Huertaz of the American Lung Association was the Speaker. She discussed how important the Lung Association and its work are in this time of Covid-19.  She reminded us that the Covid-19 virus attacks the lungs and breathing problems often result. Terry said that the Lung Association, the oldest Not for Profit Association in New Mexico, has a Help Line where people can call in and talk to a Registered Nurse or Respiratory Therapist about Lung issues such as asthma.  
 
The Association is n the midst of a $25 Million fundraiser to help with its research on Lung Disease.
 
Locally, the Association is doing a modified Firemans Challenge called the "Fight  for Air Climb" on April 10, 2021.  RDS Admin Chair Kent Cravens is chair of the event and has issued a challenge to donors who donate $500.  When they do a team for the climb will be formed for the donor. There will also be a golf outing this year.  
 
Terry also reminded Rotarians that Lung Cancer is still the leading cause of cancer death in the USA,
 
Dave Seely reported on the February 3, 2021 RDS Foundation Board Meeting, where the Board is developing a process for annual spending now that we have reached our 2020 goal of $1 Million in the Foundation Permanent Fund.  
 
Greg Hallstrom reported on the next Ramp Project  Install on February 20 at 9:00AM.  He also  said the Ramp Project is in need of a new site for its Ramp Building work.  They need a site of 1000-1200 square feet,  He also said that the Club has enough funds for the Ramp Project for the the next 6 Ramps.
 
Joe Corazzi described how this years Governor Ball will be a Telethon Throwback to the Jerry Lewis era.  It will be a mix of entertainers, Jazz, Rock and Roll and Country and Western.  It will be an online streaming event through You Tube.

Today at 5:30Pm there will be a Satellite Meeting for All Del Sol Rotarians.  David Castillo, Jr.  will be inducted and be the Speaker.  He will discuss how the Albuquerque Fire Department collaborates with the city on social service issues.
