What's Your Vision?

President Brad opened our new Rotary year with an important question to each member - What's YOUR vision (and passion) for making a difference this next Rotary year?

The club had a number of great ideas from building wells in Uganda, sponsoring Toys for Tots, raising more money for children's charities, helping the elderly with yard work and more.
If you have an idea for something you would like to see the club get involved with - please let us know.

Board Meeting Location Needed

Our first board meeting of the year is scheduled for July 18.  We are looking for a location (quiet restaurant, conference room) for a hybrid meeting where we can meet in person and on zoom.  Board meetings are open ago all members and required for new members who want to earn their blue badge.

Please let Brad know if you have ideas for a good location for us to meet.

Thanks for Your Support!

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to volunteer, walk or ride for Cycling for Cycles on July 15th.  We can still use more riders and and walkers.  You can register at https://women2be.org

Celebrate Bastille Day

Jacqueline is once again going to host our Rotary de Sol Freeloaders potluck dinner on Friday, July 14th  at 6:00 PM.

This will be the first of our new Rotary year events as well as a celebration of Bastille Day (The actual day is July 14th) to honor Jacqueline's French heritage. You can impress Jacqueline with your knowledge of a few facts about this day. 1) July 14th is only called Bastille Day in English speaking countries; In France it is known as Fete National Francaise or French National Celebration. 2) The day celebrates the storming of the Bastille on July 14,1789, and the Fete de la Federation on July 14,1790. 3) The double LL in Bastille is silent as in tortilla.

Parking is limited - so please try to carpool.

Folds of Honor Golf Tournament
It was a gorgeous day for golf and to support the Folds of Honor golf tournament.  Two foursomes of Del Sol Rotarians participated in the event to provide scholarships for fallen heroes.  Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded nearly 44,000 scholarships totaling nearly $200 million to the spouses and children of America’s fallen and disabled service members. And now, in our biggest announcement yet, we are expanding the Folds of Honor mission to incorporate America’s first responders, including police, fire-fighters, EMTs and paramedics.

History of Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage
History of Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage

Kurt Walters will share his experience on the Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage.  The Camino de Santiago, known in English as the Way of St James, is a network of pilgrims' ways or pilgrimages leading to the shrine of the apostle Saint James the Great in the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia in northwestern Spain, where tradition holds that the remains of the apostle are buried.
