This week in Rotary
On July 27, 2020 at the Satellite Meeting, Pamela Walkow and Chris Allen of the Corrales Writing Group spoke on the work of their organization ,which is a group of dedicated authors who meet and critique each others work.  The Group was organized in 2012 to improve each members writing skills.  They usually have between 5-7 members and are very rigorous in their critiques of each others work.

The Group has published several anthologies. The latest one "Kale is a Four Letter Word" is a collection of works by members on their views about Kale.  It sounds like a very humorous book which will be available on Amazon September 1, 2020.

At Monday's meeting we also learned that PDG Henry Pick from Santa Fe had passed away.  He was a dedicated Rotarian with many friends in District 5520 and will be missed by all who knew him.

RDS has received a nice letter from long time Rotarian Joe Rose and his wife Anne.  They now live at 103 Mesa Springs Circle, Abilene, TX 79606,  They live in the Mesa Springs Retirement Village which Joe describes as "20 Acres of shade trees, green groomed grass, with lots of song birds, squirrels and turkeys walking about".  They live in a duplex home.  Joe and Anne have done a lot of exploring of their new home area in Taylor County, Texas.  Joe does not use email so I am sure he and Anne would appreciate a note or letter from Del Sol Rotarians.  Joe said he and Anne are doing well.  He has not joined another Rotary Club because he said all three Clubs in his area are shut down because of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

As we continue our current schedule of alternating weeks between Morning and Satellite Meetings let's try to attend and have Club Fellowship via ZOOM.  It is not the same as a great breakfast at Jimmy's or a good beer at Nexus Brewery but we can all keep in touch and focus on our various service projects.

Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 7:00AM will be our next Morning Meeting.  Speaker will be Jason Espinoza who is a partner in KW Consulting and past president and CEO of the New Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Chris Van Dyck has sent out an email blast requesting drivers for the Health Care Heroes project which has been extended for 4 more weeks.

The RDS Navajo Hope Project is continuing and can use helpers.  Please contact Christine Glidden for more details.

Lets have a Great Week putting Service above Self.
