This Morning, March 31, 2020 the Rotary Del Sol Board held its first ZOOM meeting.  This was done in light of the meeting restrictions imposed because of the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Thirteen Del Sol Rotarians attended.

 

The primary purpose of the meeting was to address a schedule of Regular and Satellite Meetings during the Covid-19 Pandemic.  Also addressed was the issue of Meal Dues during this time.  

 

As to meal dues, the Board decided NOT to bill for those in April as would normally be done for the second quarter of 2020. The Board decided to wait until the end of April to make a decision as to when to start billing for meals again. In lieu of paying for meals, members may want to consider donations to Polio Plus or Rotary Annual Fund giving.  One can do that via My Rotary on Rotary.org. And if you are tired of your own cooking you may want to consider takeout from Jimmy's our usual morning meeting venue.

 

As to meetings, the Board decided to hold meetings via ZOOM teleconferencing until in-person meetings can be  resumed safely.  Members should go to zoom.com and download the software on their computers to facilitate meeting attendance.  Jeff Weinrach will set up and host the Satellite Meetings and Dave Simon will set up and host the Regular Meetings. Each of them will send out an agenda for their meetings.  For the present we will alternate Regular and Satellite Meetings. The schedule for April is on the Events Calendar on the Home Page.  Satellite members are encouraged to attend Regular Meetings and Regular Meeting Members are encouraged to attend Satellite Meetings. The first April meeting is the Satellite Meeting at 5:30 April 6, 2020 on ZOOM.

 

As to Service Projects, the Tree Planting event on May 2 will be scaled back so that only a few members will be involved to promote Social Distancing and safety. Trees that cannot be planted now will be done in the fall.

 

Service opportunities:  We all become aware of members of our community who are shut in and need help. If you become aware of such a situation and want to enlist help for a person you can contact the Club Secretary at secretaryrds@gmail.com and he will act as a message center for such requests.  Please do not send the name of the person needing help but merely that you have such a person and the secretary will have members contact you if they can safely help.
